Neon Rift

A free turn-based squad tactics game: lead three specialists through 16 missions using cover, line of sight and two actions each per turn.

Neon Rift is a turn-based squad tactics game. You lead a Striker, a Sniper and a Medic across small grid maps. Each turn every squad member has two actions: move, shoot, use a skill or hack a terminal. Then every enemy acts.

Cover matters: a wall beside you on the enemy’s side takes 40% off their chance to hit you, and a crate takes 20%. Walls block line of sight; crates don’t. Every enemy follows a fixed, published rule (Drones find the best shot, Brutes charge, Turrets never move), so each turn can be planned.

The campaign has 16 missions with four kinds of objective: destroy every enemy, hack terminals, reach the exit, and a final boss. Win a mission to earn an upgrade point for armour, aim, movement or extra kit. There are Practice, Standard and Challenge difficulties, and every mission was checked by simulated play. Progress is saved after every action.

Quick lesson: Expected value: chance × damage

A shot’s worth is its chance to hit times the damage it does. A 40% shot for 5 damage is worth 2 on average; an 80% shot for 3 is worth 2.4. Moving first to flank (take away the enemy’s cover) often turns a poor shot into a good one.
