What it practises
- Language & vocabulary: Vocabulary, spelling, listening and reading for meaning.
Word games suit vocabulary and comprehension. Grammar and formal writing are covered separately.
Quick lesson: Using a word in a sentence
If you are not sure what a word means, try each meaning in a sentence with the word. The meaning that makes a natural sentence is usually the right one.
Check question
“The path was so narrow we walked in single file.” Narrow means…
- very long
- very muddy
- not wide
- brand new
Answer: not wide. Walking in single file only makes sense if the path is not wide.
