What it practises
- Sustained focus: Longer sessions of steady effort, with check-ins when you start to slow down.
- Language & vocabulary: Vocabulary, spelling, listening and reading for meaning.
We do not claim games build stamina or resistance to tiredness. The Lab offers structured sessions and break prompts instead.
Quick lesson: Reading for meaning
Long texts are easier to follow if you stop after each section and ask what it said. Looking back is not cheating: good readers check the text. At the end, the main idea is what every section has in common.
Check question
You can’t answer a question about a section you just read. What should you do?
- Guess and move on
- Look back at that section
- Start the whole text again
Answer: Look back at that section. The answer is in that section, so checking it is the quickest route.
